Preparing for your Digital Office Space

As we transition to an online-only workspace during this time of Covid-19 we understand that this is an unprecedented amount of people online at the same time. With this increased amount of people online, it is the perfect time for people with malicious intent to strike.

Here are 5 Tips to secure your digital space during this time:

Stop using normal text messaging services.

Standard texting, iMessage, and WhatsApp are all prone to being hacked. A great alternative is Signal which is a great free, user friendly, and secure messaging tool that is available for Apple and Android users. Sudo allows you to log in to any anywhere with an extra anonymized step between yourself and the website or service.

Switch your web browser.

Sucks to say,  but our standard Safari, Chrome, Netscape, etc. have little to no security and can easily broadcast passwords and other important information. Firefox is free and offers automatic privacy with no need for plugins.

Say bye-bye Google Search.

And Hello to DuckDuckGo. If you're tired of being targeted from advertisements based on your searches than use DuckDuckGo for secure searching.

Change your WiFi Password.

Chances are your WiFi password is the same as many other ones, and if they have one then they can access them all. The right thief doesn't just stop at one place. ProtonVPN is a great free service if you are forced to use someone else's WiFi.

Use a Faraday Sleeve.

You might think, "Hey, I'm not leaving my house. Why should I use a Faraday Sleeve?" You might not now, but you will after this is over. In some countries, there are Governments and Cellular Networks working together to track who is following stay at home orders. If you do leave the house for a "non-essential need" store your phone in a Faraday Sleeve.

If you follow these 5 easy steps, you will be well on your way to living a secure digital life during these trying times.
