Safeguard Your Email

In light of recent events, it is important to be aware of our physical health as we navigate the current state of our world.

But this does not mean we should forget about our digital health.

There are groups using the current Coronavirus Pandemic as a way to distribute a virus to our computer.

This computer virus is named "Vicious Panda" comes as an RTF file and is disguised in an email campaign that supposedly names new coronavirus infections. Once the email is opened, a malicious file (intel.wll) gets loaded onto your computer that begins to catalog your device. It does this by taking screenshots, developing lists, and downloading files, all potentially harmful not only for your self but those around you.

The downloaded file triggers a chain reaction and only works in small segments of time in order to not arouse suspicion.

We recommend making sure you have quality antivirus software (Not Avast), and that you only open emails from sources that you know. If it looks suspicious, it probably is.

At present this email campaign is targetted, but that does not mean that more will pop up as this continues.
