As privacy has become front of mind for many companies and people a like in the last year, Apple has recently released a software update for the iPhone that has made headlines.
What have they done that's so different compared to the usual updates? They've added steps to stop applications from tracking you.
If you've already updated your phone then you've likely seen a pop-up when opening an application for the first time after the update that asks you if you want to be tracked and how.
With the options being allowing the application to track you at all times, while using the application, or never.
However, as this is the first update of its kind, there are of course some kinks. If you, like us, feel like these applications know too much about us and don't even want to give them the option.
Take these following steps:
This will automatically deny all applications from tracking your location and prevent them from getting more information that they can use to advertise to you.
As skeptical as we are about this and other tech manufacturers "Privacy Efforts" we feel that this is a step in the right direction and one towards transparency. We have long felt that the mass amount of location data that companies learn about you based on your travels is something that you should have a right to make sure is not only private, but secure.
This, is only one of the many use cases that we have for our product, but if you're tired of talking about something or walking by a store and then getting an ad for it minutes later, this update and a Faraday Sleeve are the perfect option for you.
Thanks for these tips. Keep them coming! I’m grateful for the advice and love your products.
