Anyone, from your phone service carrier to anyone who gets a few minutes with your phone could potentially be tracking your location through GPS Tracking.
Fortunately, there are ways you can minimize this attack on your privacy.
This may seem like a no-brainer, but sometimes we need to be reminded of the simple things.
On an iOS phone, go into Settings, tap “Privacy,” and tap “Location Services” to be directed to a page where you can disable all permissions.
On an Android phone, go into Settings, tap “Location Services,” and then unselect the boxes for "Location Services" and "GPS Satellites.”
This is usually just as simple as switching on the “Airplane Mode” feature on your device. This disallows the usual connection your phone has with your network provider, making it harder for your location to be tracked.
This setting, built into most smartphones, gives your carrier service unlimited permission to track everything you do on your phone, including your location, at any time.
On an iOS phone, you must “jailbreak” your phone to prevent Apple from catching your location and sending to iTunes. You can use the app, Untrackerd, to do this.
On an Android phone, go into Settings, tap “Location and Security,” and unselect the option "Use Wireless Networks".
While doing these three things will minimize your risk of cell phone location tracking, none of them actually prevent it completely.
The only way to actually STOP all GPS tracking once and for all is to use Silent Pocket cases for your phone.
Silent Pocket cases block ALL signals, including cellular, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, RFID and NFC in all frequencies, allowing you the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your phone is 100% protected.
